Living in Green and Lush

An Interior Design Project by Jui-Hsiang Pai

The design concept of this project is to establish a space that connects the interior with the outdoor greenery, creating a refreshing and tranquil living environment.

This interior design project, titled "Living in Green and Lush," was created by Jui-Hsiang Pai for an apartment flat located near a green park. The owner's vibrant and optimistic personality inspired the design, which aimed to meet her desire for a space that reflects her lively and refreshing lifestyle. The main focus of the project was to stretch the sense of interior space and establish a connection with the outdoor greenery, creating a natural and serene atmosphere.

The design features a concise composition of lines, which brings a refreshing and modern aesthetic to the space. One of the key spatial strategies employed was hanging slabs from the ceiling to enhance the vertical dimension and create visual effects. The slabs, with contrasting lighting effects, are complemented by specific white window frames, establishing a visual connection between the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the space.

The white window frames serve a dual purpose. They reflect and induce sunlight into the interior, filling the space with a bright and warm atmosphere. Additionally, they frame the outdoor green scenery like a living painting, changing with the passage of time. The integration of shiny metal materials on the white walls, connected to the window frames, adds a sense of light rhythm and further enhances the spatial experience.

The design specifications for this project include a square meter space, carefully planned to meet the owner's needs. The space is dedicated to displaying the owner's beauty and grace, creating a personalized and intimate environment.

The project was completed in 2016 in Taiwan, showcasing the designer's deep professional abilities and experiences. The use of folded slabs with wooden materials creates a wide visual effect, stretching the spatial feelings of the living room. This spatial strategy also acts as a transition area between public and private spaces, adding a sense of depth and dimensionality to the design.

The color scheme of the design plays a crucial role in achieving spatial balance. The iron-gray sofa set and the red-brown single chair harmonize with the white walls and wooden slabs, creating a considerate and cohesive visual experience.

One of the design challenges was the narrow path towards the private area. To address this, the designer arranged the entry door of the reading room at the central part of the wall, creating a symmetrical aesthetic. On either side of the entry door, concave spaces were created for floral decorations, adding flexibility and balance to the overall spatial proportion.

This interior design project, created by Jui-Hsiang Pai, received the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. The award recognizes the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The project exemplifies strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
